Where AM I?
This is embarrassing. I have tried twice to go from Osan AB (the massive 13 miles) to Camp Humphrey's and got lost both times. It's old HWY 1 to HWY 45 right?
I cannot find a map!!!!! Does everyone here always know where there are?? Any good maps or even hand drawn cheat sheets you can email? Side note: E-mart is very cool. My twin children got me more attention there than Pamela Anderson in a bathing suit....and I'm the twin's father. Cheers, Chuck |

Ok...I'll try this even though it's been a while for me and please remember this is from memory of days gone by. If you want the "easy to remember" way, take Highway 1 until you've passed through Pyongtaek. It will intersect with Highway/road 38 on which you'll want to hang a right. This will take you over toward Anjung-ri which is your destination. I believe it will be the 3rd exit, but this is how to tell. Look to your right as you drive and you'll see a bridge running perpendicular to 38. That's the road you want to exit onto. There will be two exits placed next to each other, one taking you back to Pyongtaek and the other (the second of the two) circling around and taking you to the left. You'll want to stay in the right lane, but not in the initial turn lane at the first light. When you get to the second light where the road splits off to the right, you'll veer off to the right. Stay on that road until the light and hang a right. This road will take you straight to the gate at the Hump.
Or, you could take the bus. Or you could FOLLOW the bus in your car. The bus will take a more direct and faster route. With all the new roads in the area it's different. |

actually follow a taxi since they take an even faster way (though more confusing way)
if you look on google map (or google earth) you can find the path... go out far exit in the ROK side of the base, take the windy road till you come ot a stop light, turn right here, go down the road till you come to a crossing (only 300meters or so down the road) turn left there, follow that road till it ends at a stop light (your cross over the high speed rails) and under an over pass. from there turn right again, you'll cross over a bridge, go though the first set of lights, ro a U turn at the next set of lights turning onto the onramp at the road where the first stop light was at (ya they are were planning on building something there....) After that follow that road till you see a semi long bridge on your left turn there and follow that road till your into town... once your in town there about 100 different ways of getting into the base |

What I did the first time is go with a friend that knew and wrote down the directions. I will try and find them and post them here. The most difficult part is is that U Turn of the highway. If I don't post the directions soon please PM me and remind me.

You Funny
Following an AAFES taxi....I should have done that. I was passed by many!!! I did see many of your landmarks in your descriptions (ROKAF gate, long bridge, high speed rail, etc.
The funniest thing: There are 100 ways to get to Camp Humphrey's and I can't find one. I will print your directions and try again. Google Earth...I'm not showing very good resolution. I haven't tried in a few months. I will re-attack. You would think the BX/PX would have a printed map of the area. Thanks, Chuck |

Haven't tried
I haven't tried the trip again. I did see Google Earth is looking better. Is "The Hump" on the water?
I see a pretty nice looking port with a race track looking thing next to it. |

I was way off
I was too far west on the coast. The Hump looks due South of Osan AB. No wonder I am getting lost.
Thanks!! Chuck |

Chuck, that race track is the Hyundai test track. There are several track in Korea. We are not on the water, unless you are talking about the river as seen in the google earth.
I have not driven i just take the bus, but soon i will be driving when my paper work gets signed by the post commander. Wish i could help more, but we are due south. When we take off west and turn north we are already on downwind for your runway. I believe it is only 13 or 14 miles maybe less to the Hump.
