Usually there are used sound systems, flat monitors, computers, etc, dogs, parrots, and furniture on the foreign school teacher's blogs/ many only stay a year, like soldiers, but they don't have any shipping allowance-so they sell what they can and throw away good mattresses, furniture and what is left. I would not bring any monitor. Worst case you would have to come to the Seoul area to pick up some of the good stuff. You can bring a shotgun, even though some might say you can't. They are wrong. Stories of confiscation at the airport are true, but not if you have the proper previously approved govt. paperwork They have to be kept on base locked up by the SP's or downtown at the local police station. Don't bother; they can be rented at the hunting clubs if you really want to hunt pheasants. Do bring a fishing pole if you wish. There are bass all over these days, and no license required. I like the idea of fat tired bikes. That is much more comfortable. Comfortable seats are a good idea, also. Most roads out of town have potholes. Bring long underwear, put em' on November through February. A helmet with earmuffs for the bike. No nasty knives. Playboy is outlawed.

Re: Stuff to Bring
As usual, you guys are a firehose of wisdom. Good thing you mentioned the magazine thing Mr Joe...I had a few of them already packed up. I didn't really think about bringing a fishing pole, either. I probably won't bring one with me, but I'm going to get one as soon as I get there.
Thanks again for all the help! I STILL don't have a sponsor at my new squadron, and I don't think I could have such a smooth time of it without you guys. Joe

Re: Stuff to Bring
If you haven't received a sponsor, contact your Airman and Family Readiness Center (old Family Support Center) and let them know that you haven't received one yet. When you arrive, you MUST be signed out of the reception center by your sponsor. You will NOT be allowed to leave the center on base until they come to pick you up. Failing them being there to get you, your First Sergeant will get a call. Save him or her the hassle...they get called out enough as it is.

Re: Stuff to Bring
Yeah...tell me about it. I shadowed my Shirt for a couple of weeks. I have a WHOLE new respect for them, and I heartily apologize to my past 1st Shirts :-) Thanks for the sponsor info too. I'll get a little more aggressive with them here next week. I have the phone # to the shop that I'm probably going to be working in, so I'll give them a call and see what's up.
BTW...killer icon ya got there, dameeun! Thanks again! Joe

Re: Stuff to Bring
I work at the base Thrift Shop and it has monitors for very cheap--I just sold one last week for pennies. They're not that great (old models) but they work. There are lots of other goodies, but the nice things go fast. Everything is on a first come first serve basis and our inventory changes every week, but it's a good place to stop by for knick-knacks around the house that you wouldn't necessarily want to by new. Good luck and safe travels.
