Turumi Lodge & SSRT Rant

I arrived the Turumi Lodge yesterday and am very disappointed with the lodge. I have always had a great experience there.

I arrived yesterday and tried to get connected to the Internet via my wireless laptop. I started in the coffee shop. There were 3 connections available. After trying for 30 minutes and unable to get connected, I went down to the lobby and asked the Korean front desk workers what was wrong. One of the girls told me to try on the lobby level. After another 20 minutes of trying all three connections failed again.

I figured I would have to pay the 24 hour rate and use the internet in my room like I always did when I stayed at the Turumi. Well, guess what? The Turumi lodge does NOT have internet in the rooms anymore. I could only guess because of the SSRT scandal.

I asked the front desk girl if she had called in that the internet was not working. She said, "Sorry, but SSRT does not come out and fix problems on the weekend." She then said, "please go use our computer room."

What is Turumi's brilliant plan? They have three computers with internet access in a little room for the hundreds of guests. You can imagine the room was full!

So, I am out here in Korea to conduct internet business and I have no internet.

moon, I had a few problems with the site this morning. I had pruned the RSS feeder and I got a fatal database error which jacked up the site! I had to do some quick fixes and the site is back up 100%.

As far as the Turumi lode is concerned I am on their internet now. It is Monday so I guess they actually did the repair. It must be nice to not have to work on the weekends! I can't believe SSRT gets away with a whole building's internet service being down for two days without sending a worker. It is unbelievable to me that the U.S. signed a contract allowing them to not have to do repairs on the weekend.

Thanks for the offer though!
