Re: Non-command-sponsored Space-A travel
Ok well I have a question. Can my girls and I fly Space A to the states this summer without our sponsor and not come back to Korea?

I know the comments were one year old, just doing my part to reduce multiple threads of the same topic. At that point my questions had not been answered... The passenger terminal didn't know anything. BUT, my gaining squadron's superintendent gave me this information: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Each of your dependents should be on your orders, have valid U.S. passports with Korean (A-3) Visas. Once they arrive, your dependents will also get a Status of Forces Agreement(SOFA)Stamp. There is no rule that I know of that limits the amount of time that they are out of Korea as long as these documents are still valid. The COLA allowance will change if any dependents are gone from Korea for more than 30 days because COLA is based on the number of dependents physically residing in the household. Your Dependents will fall under the A-3 Status Visa in Korea. This allows your dependents to stay for the duration of your assignment. Your MPF should be advising you that you dependents need these Visas; The SOFA Stamp will be taken care of once you arrive. Agreement (A-3) Documents needed to obtain: - Temporary duty order, statement of employment or official letter from the Foreign Minister to certify his/her status. - Invited Contractor: Letter of Employment : CAC Card or military ID card is required * Dependents - Spouses: copy of marriage certificate and original - children: copy of birth certificate Link to the Korean Embassy is below: http://www.dynamic-korea.com/ Hopefully this answers your question, let me know if we can be of further help. >>>>>>>>>>>> I'll be contacting the Finance office later today to see if they know of a specific DOD form or publication that deals with this COLA time constraint. ![]()

Re: Non-command-sponsored Space-A travel
I just wanted to add that this only applies to people here command sponsored. If you're here NCS you get COLA at the without dependants rate anyway.
