VoIP Update
Since the 1 Jun deadline has come and gone, have there been any changes? Does Vonage and/or Skype still work? Anybody set up a new account? I'm arriving on 1 Sep and currently have a Vonage account, but debating switching and/or cancelling prior to my 30 day money back guarantee expiration. Any and all info would be GREAT. Thank you.

American VoIP's still work. All I can tell you is that as of right now the deadline was extended until 21 June.

I can't remember if I read it here or in the newspaper, but the ISPs have already said they have no way of tracking VOIP usage. So I don't think you have much to worry about. And you most definitely want to have a US phone number associated with your phone.

Any information on how well Skype works over there? Voice quality, ISP compatibility, etc? I've signed up for both and trying to decide which to keep. Thanks again.

I use Skype too and it is just fine.

When my husband was in the dorms, he didn't have a phone hooked up. He just used the Vonage number. We do have a Korean cell phone, though, to make communications easier within country (for recalls and if he has to get ahold of me from work, etc.).
