Of course, it's like any other commodity - it's all about supply and demand. In Korea, there is plenty of supply and also plenty of demand. But it's a very competitive market and most internet providers are doing everything they can to get customers. So offers of free installation and/or one month free service pop up quite regularly. |

We have the Korean basic cable, and cable internet at our off base house, and paid 80,000 (roughly 80 bucks) won when we moved in, I guess we got a special deal, we didn't have to pay for installation, and the 80,000 won covered our first three months. Our monthly bill since has averaged around 35,000 a month (roughly 35 bucks). From our experience, cable and internet here in Korea is actually much more cost effective than what we had in the U.S., and very reliable, we've only had one outage, and that was due to an apparent construction accident somewhere in our proximity that downed the lines, and one bout of unreliable connectivity that was corrected with a phone call. We don't have a phone installed at our house, we have our vonage phone for international calls , which, incidentally, we're having no problems with at all., and a prepaid cell phone for local calls, recalls, etc. Dee :) Last edited by rndspringer : 06-14-2007 at 09:29 AM. |

Re: VoIP Update
Dee, we had the same issue with construction a couple weeks ago. Where are you? We're right by Hobak Bat Chin Jang (totally Americanized that myself!), if you go left at the Baskin Robbins on the mall we're out that way.

Re: VoIP Update
I decided not to go with.
I'm going to visit twice. So we see each other every three months. I may change my mind, but that's the plan right now. SO his internet connection will be in the dorms. Do you have to use specific internet compaies if living in the dorms? Or can you be choosy? |
