Korean GPS Navigation

Hello,

Does anyone use a GPS for in-car Navigation in Korea?

Do they sell the GPS DVD Maps at the BX?

I know my GPS only has the US/Canada Database.

Do the Korean databases use have a Korean Language and English option?

I haven't read anything on this before, something interesting I thought of.

Cheers

Re: Korean GPS Navigation

GPS is very popular here. We rented a car that had GPS and we could switch it to an English setting. The one we had actually talked to you, we couldn't switch that, so we just turned the volume down. Are you planning on bringing your own with you or buying one here? They are more expensive here. I have a handheld Garmin. I called Garmin to see about getting Korean software and they told told me it wouldn't be compatible, I'd have to buy one here.

Re: Korean GPS Navigation

My son bought one from this website: http://www.letsnavi.com/

The one he bought has an English function. It's kind of a pain in the ass though because you have to download updates and upload them to your GPS if you want to stay current with all the cameras, stop lights, speed limits, etc.

Several people in his office bought the same system because it has English capability and one of the Korean employees knows how to get the updates and upload them. I got the impression from talking to one of my son's co-workers that systems with English capability are hard to come by. I have never looked for one myself though, so I don't know from personal experience.

I would imagine rental cars might be more likely to have them because of the likelihood of a foreigner renting the vehicle. Once again - just a guess on my part.

Re: Korean GPS Navigation

I think the main problem I'm having now is I can't find Korean City Maps in english for any GPS devices.
