Are the new ABUs available at Osan yet? My husband is arriving over there around 6 Feb 08, and is trying to decide whether to buy them now or wait. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Tom ordered his on-line. He'd been wearing them for a couple weeks now but says they're way heavier than his lightweight BDUs. Since the temps have been up recently, he's gone back to the BDUs.

We're kind of stuck because his squadron has been, um shall we say, "informed" not to get them from certain places due to something about the color not matching. So we know that there's going to be a rush at AAFES, but some places have some stock. He just asked me to check with you all.

Yep, there's a slight "color variation" between the two authorized vendors supplying ABUs to the AAFES military clothing stores. While we are authorized to wear these mis-matched ABUs, they look like crap. I ordered mine directly through the vendor (the website can be obtained from clothing sales); it takes more time (a month or more) to get them, but by ordering the tops and bottoms from a single vendor they at least match.
Believe it or not, the hardest part has been finding a new ABU hat that fits my noggin...

Tom got his from kelac.com but then had to order his cap from uspatriot.com and he said the shipping from U.S. Patriot was much quicker. Neither site was offering the pocket sew-down or tailoring because of the large number of orders they were taking, so he had to take the ABUs downtown for that stuff, and since the tailor shops didn't have the correct color thread, that also had to be special ordered.
