Off base apartment rentals

Please don't ask about juicy girls anymore, this is not the fourm to do it.

1st warning

I'm thinking about putting in for a remote to Osan. I'm an E6 without a line number. I want to have an apartment off base. And I don't think I will get base approval to recieve OHA for off base housing. Can anyone give me a ball-park figure on how much ghosting in an apartment will cost me per month? I've heard there are many ad's posted on the base. I would need a small 1 bedroom apartment about a 5 min walk from the front gate. I was there in 2000 and I knew a few guys that had a girlfriend and lived off base on their own dime. Any advice on pricing or people to talk to? Anyone know anyone that is doing it right now?

As far as getting OHA approval, no, chances are you won't, unless the NCO dorms are full to overflowing, and you have specific approval from your commander to leave off base. While many commanders are now getting more lenient with giving permission to live off base, the chances of the dorms being that full aren't very good right now. I would highly recommend calling the housing office and asking them, however, as things are always in a state of flux, it seems.

The pricing on apartments that I know of varies greatly, depending on where you're at, etc. Our new next-door neighbor, an AD Member ghosting without OHA with his Korean g/f, paid 400,000 won for his former apartment, with utilities included in the rent, but it was quite some distance off base, and ended up causing him some trouble when he couldn't get back to base fast enough during a recall. Our apartment is around 3 minutes or so from the main gate, and we're paying 700,000 won a month, plus utilities, etc. I've seen apartments however, that go well into the 1,500,000 range though, so it's dependent on where you look, etc.

When you arrive, you could check with a realtor.. that'd be your best option in finding things, and as you said, there are often postings on base.

As far as the juicy scene..well, *G* Being that I'm married and a woman, you'll have to ask one of the guys on here about that. :)

Dee :)

Sorry, but a line like this will get you no where on this board.
