Housing Information
I can't find ANYTHING online about the base housing, so I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
Is anyone currently living in Serakoson (yeah, I know, I can't spell it! LOL!) Towers? I would love to see some floor plans and if at all possible, some photos of the apartment interiors. Same with Mustang Village (ugh, I do NOT want to live there). What else is contained within the Towers? I saw one reference on line to a meeting in a meeting room there so it sounds like there is more than just apartments in the building. Are there washers / dryers in the apartments? Hook-ups? I appreciate any and all info. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Housing Information
Keep Cool! It will all work out! Just bring money and/or a credit card! You will be pleasantly surprised, and there are lots of places to look at. Trust me.

I just really want to see what they are like so I know how "hard" we have to argue to get to live off base LOL!! My husband has already spent 10 years at Osan so it's nothing unfamiliar, it's just that he's never lived ON base before. |

If it is of any comfort, we have done both, in Seoul, and lived off base at Osan way back when. We have a great apartment in Seoul, and can walk to the Post. But we are "Command Sponsored", so we get full sized GE commercial washer and dryer, some furniture, underground private parking, a 24 hour guard, and maybe a bit higher quality apt. Yet my wife laments the time when we lived on Post. She doesn't like the idea of using bottled water and doesn't like to even shower in the city water, which, of course, is
Han River water. She won't use the dishwasher, but hand washes dishes using the reverse osmosis treated "drinking water" , and uses bottled water for cooking and brushing teeth. Living on Base would make her feel better, the water is always drinkable. Apartment living will always be apartment living, with the possibility of noisy and thoughtless Foreign neighbors upstairs, who refuse to remove their shoes, and thump around to the bathroom all night long, and scoot furniture around. We have been fairly lucky in that respect. I can see that you are flexible enough to handle whatever comes, so I am going to give no more advice than I give myself. I refuse to worry about anything that I cannot control. I slept through Hurricane Hugo, even though my wife kept saying, " The neighbors trees are FALLING IN OUR YARD!" I said, " What exactly do you want me to do about it?" "Go back to sleep." Last edited by Mr. Joe : 10-27-2007 at 07:26 AM. |

Re: Housing Information
After living off base for a year in a brand new APT I'm SO glad that we are now CS and live on base, just is SO much better in all aspects of living in Korea. The first year was great down town, but the rudeness and everything Mr. Joe has mentioned is true.
Here at Camp Humphreys the towers here are brand new and I really cannot imagine that your new towers will be any different than our....they are very spacious and are around the 1300 SQ FT. They are supplied with W/D and all the furniture, the water is drinkable all the time, it does not take an hr for your place to get warm when you turn the heater on (Central heat and air). You don't have to worry about the guy that sells fruit out of the back of his truck and is on his loud speaker at 6AM. In the end it's your choice but if you can get on base I would take it.... Chuck

Our links are inoperative and our (Photo) Gallery crashed months ago and never has been rebuilt! You might as well go to USFK Classifieds.com and see if you can get a realtor to send email photos to you. I think Seoraksan might be the best English spelling for 설 악 산 .
Will someone down at Osan please take some photos of on-base housing, inside and out, before Ginger sues the goverment under the freedom of information act! ![]() |

Re: Housing Information
I found these pictures of the construction going on at Osan but no floor plans.
http://www.rao-osan.com/osan-info/osan.index.htm I seem to remember the Morning Calm printing a link but I couldn't find it. I think it was to the construction company that is building the towers. Maybe if you can find out who's building the towers and do a search for their website. I'm sure you've already looked but does the Air Force have a website like the Army's One Stop?

Like I've said, it's our preference to live off base but if I have to live on, I wanna preview of what I'm getting into. As far as the water goes, here in San Antonio, the city water is nauseatingly bad so we already do bottled water for any water we consume. And I don't like the idea of "curfew" on base. Gak! I'm almost 44 years old, I don't need no stinkin' curfew! LOL! |

Re: Housing Information
Does not matter if you live on base or not....you must be in your dwelling before/at curfew, if not and you have an ID card then you can STILL be picked up by the SP's/MP's as a curfew vilolator.....
