Venting

I am so frustrated right now. I went to the BX to buy a coat, because hey lets face it, it's freakin cold! Anyway I search all the coats in Osan BX and there was NOT ONE maternity coat!!!! I have choked down their ugly and pitifully small selection of clothes but this one really takes the cake!! I mean sure I could buy and XL or XXL to make sure I have enough room for my ever expanding belly but I think that I would look pretty dang silly walking around with sleeves that are 2-3 inches to long and I don't really like swimming in my clothes!

Thanks for letting me vent

Re: Venting

Awww. That stinks. I've never had to buy a maternity coat because my kids were born in October, September, and May, but I feel your pain. Perhaps a men's coat? Good luck! What about Old Navy on line?

Re: Venting

Uggh! I'm sorry you're having a hard time, SLC!

The selection at the Osan BX has always been a little limited on the maternity clothing side. Unfortunately, they're currently gearing their buying toward the "major demographic" here, which seems to be the single or unaccompanied airman. The lack of costumes and school supplies was proof of that. Hopefully, as more command sponsorships open up, they'll start gearing more toward families, but I suspect it may require a lot of comment cards, etc.

Will you be going to Yongsan at all any time in the near future? They seemed to have a larger stock of maternity clothes in their PX when I was there previously, you might luck out. If you don't mind spending a bit of money, you might try downtown at one of the goretex shops, and get them to make a coat for you...but again, that can be a bit more costly, and unless you're planning on getting pregnant again, it could be a purchase you only use once. It might get it to you more quickly than mail order, though...not exactly sure how long things are taking to get here these days.

Again, sorry you're having a hard time of it!

Dee :)

Re: Venting

I ordered one online today, I'm just hoping it comes before the baby :) This was after going downtown and pricing coats. One place wanted $150 and another wanted $209 or $290, either way it was too much. I can't see spending that much on something I'm only going to wear for a couple of months. It cracks me up because you would THINK that they would order at least one style of maternity coat so us heavy with baby wouldn't freeze to death. I mean I'm sure they all would have smalls and XL's since thats what they order in the clothes too. Grrrrrrr. I went to Yongsan once and they had one different thing there than at Osan. It just drives me nuts. Oh well I can just hope that the mail comes through a a resonable rate (yeah right).

Cool Re: Venting

I was at the thrift shop Wednesday here at Yongsan South Post and saw a double (Side-by-side) stroller for under $20. It was not fancy, and not new, but someone may like it. And coats are all over itaewon now (on the street)for $30. PM me if I can help. They open Sat. at 10.

I was just reminded by your venting post- I know you are a survivor!

Re: Venting

The maternity selection at Osan is awful. Yongsan is really not much better. Or at leasrt it wasn't last winter when I was pregnant. Neither place ever stocked maternity coats. I ended up ordering one from Old Navy.

And speaking of coats at Osan, the baby/kids section has a TON of coats for toddler and baby girls but DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE baby BOY coat. How messed up is that?? I complained at costumer service and they hemmed and hawed and said "oh, we might get some in" blah blah blah. I ended ordering my son (9 months) one from Ebay.
