I figure you guys know no one is going to expound on what your job will be until you get here. Not only because of any restrictions, but just that it probably won't be decided until they figure out what they need at the time!
Let me put your mind at ease. Things will be fairly good to great, and you will be glad you came. Osan is the place to be for AF! Kunsan is a bit more country, and the regeime apparently is more strict and spartan. But you can adapt to most anything for a year. Don't worry!

I got a friend with a GED who's interested in joining the AF. Does anyone know if the AF excepts people with GEDs? She's never taken the ASVAB so she'll have to do that, she's fluent in Hangul and would like to be a linguist. When you join are you guaranteed a job as a linguist along with a specific language or does the military going to put her where they want?

The rules change so often depending on needs that her best bet is to go talk to a recruiter. They have waivers for everything, but without knowing the specifics it's hard to give good advice. I'd just have her go to the recuiting office and see what they say.

I told her the same thing. Only thing with her being here in Korea there isn't a recruiter on Pen all the time.
