Taking pet from airport

Can someone tell me if the Korean bus system allows pets on their buses (not the storage bins under the bus)? My wife is flying into Incheon with our dog and would like to take the bus to Sonton.

Thanks...

Re: Taking pet from airport

Back in 2004 when I arrived, the driver let me bring my Yorkie. I had to keep him in his kennel though.

I don't believe there's a policy though...I think it's up to the driver and how crowded the bus is at the time.

Re: Taking pet from airport

About a year ago when I was looking into bringing our dog over, a Korean friend made some phone calls for me and was told that they would let the dog travel under the bus with the suitcases in his kennel. Our dog is big, they may let a small dog on board but I don't know. I also found out that the subway doesn't allow dogs but I've seen people with the really small dogs on subways. Taxis may or may not allow dogs it just depends on the driver.

Re: Taking pet from airport

I think ITT rents a van from Osan to the airport, but it's like $150 or something like that. I came here with two cats and didn't want to risk it on the bus, so one of my coworkers picked me up. Good luck.

Re: Taking pet from airport

When we left Korea in November, we made inquiries, and were told that the Services Bus will no longer allow pets at all, and that Korean buses were no longer allowing even lap sized pets, and even if they did allow pets, transporting them in a Korean bus would be dangerous to the pet, due to something about fumes in the luggage compartment where they would be stored.

We looked at the option of taking a taxi, but given the cost of the fare, and, the consideration that for us, with 3 people and 5 suitcases, *plus* the pet, the cramped ride would have been miserable, we opted to pay the 150.00 for the services van.

It was 150.00 well spent, in our opinion. We were picked up at the time -we- desired (O'dark thirty, for an early morning flight). The driver even drove us from the Turumi to the kennels to pick up our pup, and loaded all our luggage in and out for us. :) We had a very comfortable ride to the airport, with plenty of room for us and all our things, far more comfortable than we would have had in a bus or a taxi. The trip to Incheon even took a little less time than it normally takes the bus, and was no stress, no fuss, no muss... just what we needed in the middle of a hectic PCS.

Someone coming in with a smaller sized pet that could sit in their lap, or perhaps fewer folks, or less stuff, might be able to find a viable alternative, but for larger pets, or someone in the PCSsing out situation we were in, the services van definitely proved to be the best solution, even at 150.00. :)

Dee :)

Dee- Any problems picking up the dog from the kennel at that time in the morning?

Also, we had not problem bringing our dog down to Osan from Yongson on the shuttle bus, perhaps you might have luck taking the dragon hill shuttle bus from the airport, and then paying the 5 bucks for the osan-yongson shuttle.
