Off base movie theater
Can anyone tell me how to get to the Korean movie theater off base (the closest or nicest one that shows movies in english).
I was told you can get there on the bus, but I'm not sure where to get off. Also, if there is a website or phone number, so I can check to see what movies are playing... Thank You |

Where do u work ? maybe, do u work at OSAN AB ? If you so, you can go to Suwon CGV near Suwon station. I went there with my American friend who have worked at OSAN AB. And if you're take a taxi, just say your destination in Korean. As you know, Korean people can't speak English. For example, 'Su-won-Yeok !' It's means Su-won sation. Just say your destination name to the taxi driver ! BTW, Do u like watching Movie ? What kind of movie do u like ? Good luck ! |

Re: Off base movie theater
THank you for the post. Is there a movie theater at Suwon station? Are the movies in ENglish?
I took a taxi to Songtan Lotte Cinema, it cost about 4,000 won and the movie theatre is on the 4th floor, but it was closed. I'm not sure if it is closed due to the New Year? It looked as if they might have been doing an upgrade of some sort to the facility. |

Re: Off base movie theater
Why not just come to Humhreys? Our movies are free as long as you have a valid Military I.D. card.

Re: Off base movie theater
CGV is pretty cool, but there are a few things you need to know ahead of time. First off, when you arrive you will see a big ticket counter, but you need to get a number in order to buy your ticket.
Second, there will be big TV screens above the ticket counter (and maybe a few other places) telling you what movies are playing and at what times. They also tell you how many seats are left for each theater, which brings me to my third tip. Almost all Korean theaters have reserved seating, and make SURE you are sitting in YOUR seat otherwise you will have some grouchy Korean person yelling at you to move (ask me how I know... LOL). Ticket prices are usually about 7,000 won for regular movies and 10,000 won for Imax movies. The concessions are pretty reasonably priced and the sweet popcorn is something you might want to try at least once. You can also try fumbling thru the CGV website if you want to. I was able to at least get show times off of there, but it took me a few tries. I think it is http://www.cgv.co.kr but I might be wrong. I went to at least 10 movies at CGV theaters in Seoul, and had a great time.... hopefully your experience is the same! |
