The US Congress doesn't have much say when it comes to how the Korean gov't regulates its telecommunications industry. And unless the US gov't (and telecommunications industry) is willing to allow any telecom company from any country to operate within the US ~ something I don't see happening anytime soon ~ why should the Korean gov't and telecommunications industry operate any differently?

Yeah that is what I coming here to say that Congress can't do anything about it because Korea has a right to do what they want within reason and this is well within reason.

Re: Vonage now officially BLOCKED in 1 dorm

I was told that it is actually back on in the dorms and still works in housing at Osan. Some guys in the dorms said that all of the sudden theirs was working again.

Re: Vonage now officially BLOCKED in 1 dorm

Does anyone know the current status of Vonage for off base use? I will be heading to Osan probably by NLT end of July. I will be living off base and would like to purchase for use before I leave if it works.

Thanks for any new information in the phone wars.

It works fine off-post and according to some Korean friends who work in the IT biz, there is no plan (or way) at this time to try to block it.

Re: Vonage now officially BLOCKED in 1 dorm

If by chance it still will work in the dorms come Feb 2009...is the Vonage stuff readily available there at Osan (or off base)? Just checking on whether I need to add the equipment to my planning list...

thanks
