Hello- We are trying to find someone who can do a home study for us. We live near Camp Humphreys but can travel. Thanks!

Question Re: Looking for someone who can do a home study for adoption

Am I to understand you need someone who will sort of look at the home situation you have and report to an adoption agency that you are capable and appear to be able to provide a good home to an orphan?

Knowing whether you are a military family or not might have a bearing on whether someone will be able to answer you or not. Can you be more specific in what you need?

Yes, that is precisely what I mean. Anyone who is licensed to do such a study should know what I am looking for. Thanks for clarifying.

Cool Re: Looking for someone who can do a home study for adoption

OK. When we adopted here, years ago, that sort of thing was arranged by your local (Korean Govt.) Dong Office. I have no idea whether you need a Licensed Korean Agent or what. If you are affiliated with the Military, your Base or Post Legal Office can set it up. If not, see the Korean Govt. Office near you.

Re: Looking for someone who can do a home study for adoption

Okay, Mr. Joe...you were right...I should have included more info :-)

We are civilians (US military). We want to have a home study done so that we can adopt a child internationally, but most likely *not* from Korea...because we have exceeded the number of children that SK will allow in the home We are hoping for a child from Japan...or perhaps another country.

The home study is our first step. Thanks for the info.

Blessings,
lotsakids...seven biological and hoping for more

Re: Looking for someone who can do a home study for adoption

Stupid question but . . . if you are having a home study done, how can you travel to meet someone for it? Isn't a home study done in the home?

Re: Looking for someone who can do a home study for adoption

I am an adoptive mom, but I did ours while in the states. What agency are you wanting to go through? That would be your first step in finding a home study agency. Certain adoption agencies will only work with certain home study agencies. Good luck!

p.s. You can many times get a family size waiver from Korea if you are adopting a special needs child.
