I'm about to hit 2-years on station this week. I still have one more year left on my tour since I'm command sponsored and opted to do KAIP. I want to leave on my original DEROS instead of staying the extra year.
I'm fine paying back the money I got for KAIP ($7200). I hate it here. I work in a toxic environment and am sexually harassed and discriminated against every chance they get. And no, I won't go to MEO about it - they say nonretribution but I know from past experience that's not true. I've been sick for 4 months and I think the stress of being in this environment is mostly to blame. I shouldn't come home form work crying - this happens every couple of weeks here. So does anyone know if it can be done? I'm about to lose it here!!!! |

No many are going to touch this one.....go to IG and file a complaint.....If its that bad them you may want to get some type of recorder and....well

You should go to your "family" doctor and explain your extreme stress problem. With all those kids and a crappy job, you don't need any more of this. He can get you started on a humanitarian transfer or something. If that is too slow, tell a Chaplain you are unable to cope. That will get you to where you want to be. God Bless.

Re: KAIP - Can I get out of it?
It is possible. I signed up for KAIP when I was stationed at Osan, and during the 2nd year of my tour, I was accepted for a formal training class. But in order for me to attend the class, I had to get a DEROS curtailment, along with a KAIP waiver signed by some 1 star General at AFPC.
But unless you have a really good reason for a DEROS curtailment, don't get your hopes up. They like handing out curtailments as much as the IRS likes giving free tax breaks. |
