Re: IN PLACE COT or KAIP

Althought it was twenty years ago, I had an IPCOT here in Korea. At that time I was given orders for a 30 day TDY for the purpose of an IPCOT leave if I can remember. No it was not charged against my regular leave, and yes transportation to and from the US was paid for by the Air Force. However, it was almost 20 years ago so things could have changed.

Re: IN PLACE COT or KAIP

Stuff changes on a daily basis.....However I do remember a few people doing a COT and they did receive some leave..how much I cannot say....

Check the REGS and policy? Someone will be able to help you out.

Here's the deal: With KAIP, you sign on for 2 years from the beginning (or within 60 days of arrival) and you get an extra $300 a month for the duration of your stay. With COT, you aren't committed to the extra year until you apply for COT and then you have 3 options: lump sum of $2,000, 30-days non chargeable leave, or 15-days non chargeable leave plus a plane ticket home.

Hope that helps...

Steve
