I've stayed at the Korea Hotel numerous times. The staff is great and very personable. The rooms have high speed internet, cable, phone, aircon, small refridgerator. Also very handy is a private, guest only bar with OB ($1.50), pool table, and dart boards. Nice when you don't feel like ending the party at curfew. Very typical Korean room for around $55 per night. I've also stayed at the Osan Tourist hotel. Nicer rooms than Korea hotel, but off the main drag more, not as nice a staff, and water pressure was lacking each time.

We're at the Korea Hotel right now, and I can't echo Opie's sentiments more! Though for us as a family, the amenities such as the bar, rec room,etc, haven't been such a big deal to us, I would definitely rate the hospitality and service we've received as grade A. The staff here is courteous, and friendly, and most *definitely* goes out of their way to make every accomodation for their guests. If this is an example of traditional Korean service and hospitality, then all I can say is "Wow!".

I would definitely recommend the Korea Hotel.

BTW, yes, I know it's a girly girl thing, but the bathrooms here..are *amazing*. I want to take the raised bathtub and shower home with me.. LOL, yeah, yeah, I know...I'm easily amused. :)

I stay at the Capital Hotel on a routine basis when I come to town. They have in room internet access as well as large wall mounted TV screens. What I like is that it's away from the bars and quiet and you don't have to listen to loud drunks. The have transportation to base and back to the hotel,. If you do party you have to walk up a very steep hill when you are finished.

Any possibility of getting a current approximate cost list to match the list of hotels in Mike's original post? I know that there are several motels/hotels around the area that are not on the list. Some are used for after the bars close activities, so there is a lot of noise late at night. But others are pretty nice and quiet. Quality varies a lot in these places. I have stayed at a few there. The Sun Motel charges 35,000 won a night, but has no internet access. The D (Drama spelled out in Hangul) Motel, just past the railroad tracks is also 35,000 won, and has a computer in the room with Internet. The problem here, is noise from passing trains. I have also stayed at the Namsan Motel for 30,000 won. But the room quality was much worse than these others.
