I don't visit Osan much anymore do to the high taxi fares. Just before they went up, they cut out the shuttle bus on weekends. Also the contract hotels downtown would give you a ride to wherever you wanted to go on base. They would not take you from place to place though. Now they can only take you to and from lodging. The hotel drivers told me that they think the taxi drivers complained.

I think I am getting ripped off but I'm not to sure what I can do about it. I seems depending on who I get my fare varies. I live off base and after shopping at the BX will take a taxi if I have bought a lot of stuff. The fare varies per trip it seems although (obviously) the BX and my house have not moved. The pric ranges from 2.90 to 3.20 a trip. I know it doesn't sound like much, but hey that isn't really the point. Today I kinda watched the machine, and before we even left the base it was already to to 2.60. How is it supposed to be done? I just want to make sure that I'm not getting cheated.

i always give change to taxi drives, normally to anyone, unless its pizza guy, then its $1 plus change

but then again, i normally only take a cab if i just missed the bus or its REALLY hot

Oh my gosh have haad it up to my short little head with these taxi people. We got to drop the kids off at GPAB which ended at 10:30. So hubby went to go get them and after being told no by two other taxis because welive off base, he hopped in the next one with the girls before telling him where to go. The guy was so pissed off that he sped off base and my oldest girl is saying "Daddy he's going to fast" Then although hubby game him plenty of warning he passed or place, and then threw the car in reverse going after he was agin told he passed it. Then the thing that makes me irrate is that he hit my oldest girl in the head hard when giving back the change (which of course he had to insist on all of it since he was trying to keep it)! She was sooooo upset, not that I blame her. So Ken made sure the guy knew he was sending an e-mail, and he's like no no please.

So Ken sent the e-mail and he got one back saying they suspended the guy for 3 days without pay, and they were making himtake all kinds of classes and stuff. Anyway we haven't had to fight for our change back since then, and apparently sending an e-mail does work, but I just can't figure out why these taxi drivers have such a bad attitude. I mean if you hate your job that much that you refuse to do it, and get pissed when you actually have too, get into a different job. A lot of the people here seem to just hate their jobs, or maybe they hate us. Like the male cashier at the BX at Osan (you Osan people know who I am talking about). He has such a bad attitude, is soooooo slow, and is just flat out rude! The point being, remember not to let anyone in the customer service jobs here push you around.
