You still have time. Contact your unit directly to get a sponsor. No one should have to come here without a sponsor. If you still can't get one 30 days before your arrival, let me know and I'll help you set up a mailbox.

Unfortunately, the sponsor system in a lot of units is currently *very* "broken", with no plans in place for any fixes , only the phrase "It's just Osan" handed out. We not only never heard from our sponsor, we had no luck upon arrival even getting in touch with anyone in the orderly room or his shop, or even the 1st Sgt. for a couple of days,and since the area hubby works in is a secure one, he couldn't even get out to the office to go say "Hey, I'm here!". We got our mailbox thanks to our former next door neighbor who came over a few weeks before we did.

When we finally got over here, we met the guy who was supposed to be our sponsor, he was out of the country on mid-tour when we arrived.. and here's the wonderful part.. had never even been told he was supposed to be sponsoring someone!

There was definitely a breakdown in the system, and Kris, since your hubby and mine are in the same place, and you had the same sort of experience, that sort of confirms it :)

I would *definitely* contact your unit,and request a sponsor's aid, but.. don't rely on it, if you've got someone here willing and able to help you, go for that. I got far more help and information from the folks here at USFK forums than I did from anyone on the official side of things.

Yeah, my husband never did hear from his sponsor and still to this day doesn't even know who it was supposed to be. Luckily he had already done several overseas tours and had an idea of how things work.
