NCS spouse staying in dorm

Can I stay with my husband in his dorm? I stumbled across a message somewhere on the board describing the conditions, but can't find it again to save my life.

Re: NCS spouse staying in dorm

For how long?
If for a week (maybe 2) I dont think the dorm manager will say anything but anything longer they will frown upon. One thing you may want to think about, if your husband is E4 or below he will have a roommate (share the entire room with), E-5 & E-6 Sweet mate (share bathroom and kitchen with). Also the walls are very thin so his roommate will here everything.

Possibly I could make myself useful in the kitchen to earn some time while hunting a place =)

I've been told that you can get permission from his commander to stay for 30 days in his dorm. I think who ever he rooms with will also have to agree with you staying there too. I don't have personal experience with this, just what others have told me. He should ask his commander.

Re: NCS spouse staying in dorm

Not sure if you're army or airforce but in our experience (army) the commander won't let anyone stay because the building are new. That's just my husband's company commander. I'm pretty sure in the army that it's up to each individual unit.

Re: NCS spouse staying in dorm

Air Force rules:

As long as you have signed permission from the suite/roommate (there's a form for this, naturally), dependents may stay in the sponsor's dorm room for up to thirty days. Our three children and I stayed in my husband's room (he's an NCO so we only shared a bathroom) for a week after we got here, before we moved into our apartment. Tell your husband to make friends with the dorm manager! Tom's gave us an extra mattress for the kids to sleep on.

Hope that helps!

Kara

Re: NCS spouse staying in dorm

The Osan regulation on this matter is specific. Visiting dependents may stay in their sponsor's dormitory room for a total of 30 days (cumulative). Your sponsor does have to do a letter that must be signed by the suitemate, dorm manager, and first sergeant prior to arrival. Minor dependents may not be left in the dormitory alone, period. Those people that share a room (not a bathroom, I'm talking about two people to a room) may NOT have visitors stay with them.

I know for a fact that at least one individual received an Article 15 for violating this policy. The money lost was more than they would have spent if they had just put the person up in the Turumi.
