mil id when buying cell phone?
whenever i inquire about getting a cellphone downtown (prepaid phone) they always ask for some id. so i give them my driver's license, which they don't take on the grounds that it's not a real id? and they ask for my mil id. i'm apprehensive about handing out my mil id since it has my ss number on the back. has anyone else experienced this? know any ways around it?

Re: mil id when buying cell phone?
I was standing in line behind a guy buying a phone and he made them put a piece of paper over his SS# when they photocopied it. They did it with no problems.

Re: mil id when buying cell phone?
Same thing happened when I was getting my cable and internet hooked up. They wanted to photocopy my ID. They wouldn't take my drivers license because that doesn't link me to the military ... so said the installer. I did like nearlywild did and put pieces of tape over the ssans. This practice of Koreans taking photos/making copies of ID cards does seem like an FP and ID theft issue. Maybe some of you with military ties can bring it up to the AT/FP rep on base or the OSI/CID folks. From what I've been told, this is the land of not quite right......
