Pre-paid cell phone cards in Korea
I'm a recent arrival at Osan and I'm wondering what the most cost effective pre-paid cell phone cards are?
Thanks. |

Re: Pre-paid cell phone cards in Korea
Are you looking for local or to call the states?

Re: Pre-paid cell phone cards in Korea
Any card will do for local. I don't have a favorite becasue i'm on a monthly plan. I would just ask around what gives you the most for your money.
When I did have a card phone (very short time), I did notice that even though I would talk for 5 minutes it would take 6 or 7 minutes from me. So watch out for that, and pay attention to how long you talk and remember your miutes from the before use.

Re: Pre-paid cell phone cards in Korea
Hello out there. I finally made it and am here in Korea. I am still waiting on getting a dorm room on base, but am settling in. One thing I am looking for is a deal on a cell phone. Back in the USA I used a PDA phone and liked it a lot; an 8525 with AT&T service.
I have only seen pay as you go phones here on base and had some difficulties communicating with the merchants off base. Also, I just want a monthly plan. So, I am in the market for a PDA phone if anybody has one for sale. Also, where are the compainies? Does anybody know about a web page you can link me to so that I can avoid failing to communicate with the folks in town? Regards, Tony |

Re: Pre-paid cell phone cards in Korea
I just got here, and SK Telecom and KTF are the ones that I have been pitched by the guy right next door to the McDonalds right off base.
I went with the SK prepaid. I got a used phone for 40000 won which came with a 10 dollar card. http://www.sktelecom.com/eng/ Check out their site, you'll see that the basic monthly plan is 13,000 but only comes with a few minutes. The 11 hours is an extra 10,000 won a month. As a foreigner they will probably want a fat deposit from you. |
