Did you know we are scheduled to give $234 million to the Palestinians THIS YEAR alone? Honestly, I am sick of our national debt rising and we keep giving money to terror states. The country just voted in Hammas as a majority government which says volumes about the people there. The country is full of corrupt officials and they money never reaches the people that need it.

I think the U.S. should cut most of the billions in aid we sent around the world each year. We get no return on our money and most of the countries are ungrateful anyway. When was the last time we got a thank you from anyone? I would rather use the money to pay off our national debt or use it to overthrow the Iranian or Syrian regimes.

If anyone can prove to me that the aid we send around the world actually does any good or can show me how it is accounted for, then I will change my mind.

I don't know jack about politics, but I'd imagine that it's all to gain some leverage and allies when the time comes. Also, to put on a show to the world the US are not monsters...stuff like that. It's all business, I think. Maybe the US Gov't thinks that some day if the US got nuked, the outsiders will come to our aid.

I hear S. Korean companies send loads of money to the North every year. Maybe their hopes are that some day when (if possible) the Koreas unify, the North will do more business with them.

But I agree with you...I think it sucks, too. The US has enough of its own problems.

You are both right. (I'm no expert, but my degree is in Political Science.) It appears that we'll not give anything to Palestine this year, because of the election; and the Jews may just cut off their water! (Literally.)

I agree we need to give aid to help others less fortunate and improve our image around the world. I am 100% for that. I am just against giving checks out with no accountability.

I remember seeing a report where a famous actress gave millions to Africa. When an investigative reporter asked, "where did the money go?" He was shocked. The accounting was like:

1. $100,000 to stuff
2. $2 million for other expenses
3. $1 million for operations

No recipes, details or other information to track the money.

This is the same that happens in North Korea. There is video evidence of the U.S. and other aid being sold on the open market. Also, a large portion goes to the military, helping the Chonger stay in power.

On of my college professors was an Army Lawyer at the Nurenberg Trials in Germany. He once saw U.S. CARE food packages in London being auctioned off in Trafalgar Square. "Those of us that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it!"
So, even if we give rice instead of money, there is no guarantee who gets it unless we actually feed it to those we feel have the greatest need.
