Shsong Asked, "what Is Your Religion"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
______________________ Warn: (0%) 03-31-2006, 07:21 AM Mr. Joe Moderator Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Seoul Posts: 334 | Points: 6,556.15 Rep Power: 1 Shsong! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very touchy subject for most westerners. Most people don't want to talk about it. And some can't stop talking. Very easy to offend by choosing the wrong way to express one's opinion! Religion is very personal. Each person may want to fight and argue to defend his/her belief! Religion boils down to FAITH. Faith is something intangible-you can't really touch it or feel it or prove that it is there. As I told a fundamentalist Baptist friend once, no one can really PROVE a religion to be the BEST, or the ONLY way to achieve eternal life, or even happiness. FAITH cannot be PROVEN. So I told my friend- "You just have to pick one (belief) and run with it." If one truly studies the Christian Bible, it seems to be very believable to a lot of people. But when it comes to WHICH CHURCH to follow, then they run in all directions, often choosing the one with the least restrictions, or the apparent easiest path to "Salvation". He got grumpy for a while, but we then agreed to disagree. Generally one will research, study, perhaps pray, to find a "religion" ; often a belief in a "First Cause" or a "Creator". Some never find it. Some do not care. Most, I would say, pick a certain path to follow, and try to live in such a way to cling to that belief, often with the idea that doing so will lead them to a desirable end, or into an eternal future. The "Golden Rule" seems to be a good compromise, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." You have now opened up a thread that may go on forever, as each poster tries to "Prove" to the world that the one he/she "Picked" is the best. Good Luck! I always thought it was "Do unto others before they do unto you." You are correct a discussion of Religion is never a calm discussion.![]() |

becuase the most common teaching of christ is "he who has not sinned shale throw the first stone" how ever the church seems to be throwing a lot of stones and they surely have sinned in there time
they just don't seem to be following there own teaching |

I choose to have no religion (that does not mean I'm athiest).
Throughout my life, I found that 99.98% of all the people who claim to have strong faith and follow the teachings of their Holy Bible are the ones who commit the most and worst sins. They generally act nice to each other but cold to outsiders...use their church prayers more like a "wishing well" for personal gain. I found those who have no religion or do not attend church and aren't "influenced" by the other cult...I mean church members are the nicest people in the world; naturally nice and ethical people. |
