Who would you vote for President?

Simple question. Please provide a reason if you have some time. Who and why.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

Condi rocks! She's by far the smartest, toughest, most qualified, and highly experienced person that could possibly run right now. And I personally don't think there's been a better time to have a woman in the main office. Honestly, any other time that a woman has ran, I always thought that people were voting for her just to say they voted for a woman. With Condi, though, I'd be more than proud to have her as my Commander In Chief and leader of our country.

The "other" woman on the ticket is nothing but a politician who hasn't actually done a single decent act for the sake of the people since she ran for her first office. If it doesn't benefit her or her party, then forget about it. Do we really want that? Personally, I've had enough of politics, and I'd really like to see someone in there that can get some work done.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

Al Gore. I didn't vote for him in 2000. But, I think he has mellowed with age and the past few years away from government working in the private sector have helped him reconnect with "real" people.

He knows his way around government having served as both a Senator and Vice President so he should be able to work Capitol Hill as well as any incoming President and better than most.

Plus, if the USA has direct elections (which I think we should) instead of the outdated electoral college, Gore would have won in 2000 anyway. So, he should be given another shot in 2008 and the country would be getting a better, more rounded and experienced Al Gore than it would have gotten in 2000....probably the best qualified person for the job in 2008. Which is the way I like to vote...not by party but by the best qualified for the job.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

If Al Gore won his own state of Tennessee in 200 he may have one.

Bull, any reason his own state won't vote for him for President?

I am still undecided. I like Mitt Romney from Massachusetts, but due to his religion he will probably not get the nomination.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

I think if they had a choice none of the above on the ballot that is who will win. It almost seems like there is no passion ampng the crooks oops I mean politicians. Many in congress forget why thy were sent to DC. Probably why thee person running 2nd to Rick Perry in the Polls for Govenor here is Kinky Friedman.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

Hey! There's nothing wrong with Kinky Friedman! At least you KNOW that he's going to screw stuff up. It's better to know ahead of time than to be surprised...again...when things go poorly with anyone else :-)

Re: Who would you vote for President?

I'm still kind of hoping Colin Powell will decide to jump into the race. No one on this list impresses me with the kind of strength in a leader I think our country will need going forward from here. Condi is smart but she doesn't project the kind of toughness that will be needed.

Re: Who would you vote for President?

Wouldn't that be a dream team? I'm totally with you on this on Turk, but I don't see him jumping in. It's unfortunate too because all of the hard work that we've been doing in the military for the past 10 years could go down the toilet really quick if we get a weak person in office.

Cool Re: Who would you vote for President?

Colin Powell may be too smart to jeapordize his health for no good reason.

Senator Lindsay Graham, a good legal mind from SC, who was put in to succeed Strom Thurmond (Major Gen. Thurmond, US Army, former Gov of SC, who landed in Normandy, France in A Glider on D-Day), is a possible choice in my book. Senator Graham has been a Staff Judge Advocate in the US Air Force Reserve for many years. Lt. Col. Graham is on the Military Affairs Committee, and can hold his own in discussions about the rights of us retirees and veterans and active folks. He was a very smart Prosecuting Attorney for SC before running for Senator.
