Cool New Easter Politics and Religion Discussion!

I brought this over from the Lounge as politics and religion are often misunderstood, and best discussed here under the rules that we can agree to disagree, but not shout and demand our way is the only way! We can believe or not believe- that is our individual choice and right.
That being said- those that choose to avoid controversy may just listen. We will attempt to be nice. We will attempt to avoid using the word HATE. That is something no one who practices any religion should do. Let's just "Dislike" if we must! O.K.?

Now- someone mentioned they were a Christian, but they "Hate" the God of the Jews. Well, let's start with: Jesus was a Jew. If you are a true Christian, you must believe that Jesus was the son of God. God the Father was, and is, the same for the Jews and all Christians.
Jesus collected followers in his life, that became His disciples, Apostles, if you will. He is said to have instituted the celeberation of the Last Supper, and there said that those who "Drank of His Blood and ate of His Flesh would live forever." Most all Christians believe that Christ thereby instituted the "Catholic" (Catholic means Universal) Church, saying to Peter, "Thou art Peter, (rock), and upon this rock, I will build my Church." Later on, Martin Luther and others broke away from the Catholic Church for various reasons, (inability to believe in transubstantiation, or the Trinity, wanting to get divorced, and other reasons ...Continued Later. gotta go''

Cool Re: New Easter Politics and Religion Discussion!

Yes! I think so. -but Muslims follow a different "Bible" (the Koran) written by followers of Muhammed, not Christ. They believe Allah is their God, and Muhammed who wrote the Koran is the only legitimate prophet of God. Muhammad wrote of the obligation to destroy Christians! As you probably know, to continue in the same vein as my story, you know of Abraham, and his two sons, Isaac and Jacob. Many Christians did not read the bible where Abraham was not exactly faithful to old Sarah once, and fathered the son of a servant girl. The son was named Ishmael. From the line of Ishmael came Muhammed. Of Ishmael, the one Lord God of Abraham, of the Jews, and of the Christians, said, (paraphrased) that He would put enmity between the sons of Abraham, between Isaac & Jacob and their illegitamate brother Ishmael forever. Now, forever is a long time! Anyone who believes this Bible story will not spend 2 minutes trying to patch things up between Muslims and the rest of the World!!! A waste of time! Watch them, as they will, according to the Koran, deceive, or in any way attempt to convert Christians. If that fails, they are bound to kill Christians. Sorry , that is the Koran's teaching. Read it for yourself.
Remember now- there are degrees of belief in all religions! You as a Christian may not believe the same as I as a Christian! I may decide that divorce is wrong. You may believe as the Anglican Christians, whose King wanted a divorce, so left the Catholic Church and started a similar version, only allowing for divorce! King James decided to throw out some of the books of the Original Douay Bible, and wrote his own version, which most Protestants use today. By this, know also that some believe deeply, some more shallow. Some who claim to be Muslim will stop at the part where they
are bound to kill Christians. Some will balk at the part that says if their wife or daughter is caught with a man, they are obliged to kill her. Muhammed is pretty much an unforgiving prophet, yet the Koran repeatedly says, he is otherwise.
By this paragraph above, I am saying- don't paint all Christians ORall Muslims by one brush. All who call themselves Christians are not Saints. All Muslims are not out to murder Christians. Personally, I would be very careful in finding out which Muslim to live next door to. (Yes, I have done so!)
I fully expect some flak-just be gentle!

Re: New Easter Politics and Religion Discussion!

OK- It is Easter and Passover time. I'd prefer that a Jewish person helped out with explaining the reason we Christians can not possibly "Hate" the God of Israel! He is the same God! The Christian Bible also declares that the Jews are the "Chosen People of the Old Testament"!

Mr. Shsong now, seems to be upset with the plight of the Palestinians. It seems they appear to him to be treated badly by the Nation of Israel! Will some knowledgeable person explain to him how this problem came about, and perhaps in simple English, why things are as they have been there for centuries, and may remain so ? Even though we are in New Testament times?
Shalom!
