The new Prime Minister of Australia will be Kevin Rudd- of the "Labour" Party!
This will be a big change for Australia. The Conservative Party has been in power 12 years. The first things he pledged to do are: 1. Remove Australian Troops from Iraq. (All 550 of them!) Wow! 2. Sign on to the Kyoto Protocols. ( The U.S. never did sign, as the agreement included working toward stopping global warming by reducing air pollution, which seemed like a good thing, except this Agreement/Resolution allowed China and India, probably the biggest polluters, to opt out.) Neither of the above actions will endear Mr. Rudd to the U.S. He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese! That's nice. Wonder who he will run to when China starts patrolling his neighborhood with her nuclear subs and warships? (Actually, they may now.) |

Re: Kevin Rudd elected in Australia
Yeah, it was a sad day for Australia. I was a fan of Howard.
