It is not too early to begin speculating. Do you think the time is ripe for a female President? Maybe we can get a questioneer going, or a Poll?
I say Korea is still dominated politically by males, and even though Ms. Park is a very well qualified candidate, she can be defeated by an alpha male. I say in the U.S. we have been softened up with 50 plus years of "Affirmative Action" and "Equal Opportunity" legislation, and with the sheeple being what they are, it is scary, but possible, that Hillary Clinton could win! What a sad day for America. If she doesn't shed herself of the excess baggage (dirt bag Bill) it could be even more sad! Our Mr. Bush has not become overly popular, what with the war and all. But I can't forget the abominable job the Democrats have done, letting the country down by not presenting a charismatic leader on their side. The only way to go is UP for either party. |

Joe,
I added a poll. Did you now have the option to make it a poll? Try it out. Next time you post, look down and you should see an "include poll" option. I think Korea is ready. That may just be me hoping though!

Yeah, I know I could have started a poll, but wanted to see if I could stir up any interest first. I think most people are worrying about other things right now. Here from an Army point of view, we are experiencing severe budget restraints. We may not be able to stir up a lot of folks on politics, like we did with the "Young Troops" discussion. That drew a good crowd!

I'd like to see a female president. It'd be nice to add one of those to a list of historic events in my lifetime.
IMO, the US & Korea are still dominated by males. In the average household, men still call themselves "the King". So I think the chances are still slim...perhaps in another 30 years, maybe...or sooner? It's unpredictable. |

I think its sad that in this day an age the question is asked "Is it the right time for a female (or even a black) leader"
why is it that we still look at whats between a persons legs or the colour of someone's skin to see if they are the right person for a job. I think its BS that a female can't go into war, if a woman feels she can go to war then be it, i personal don't think i'm strong enough as i think i'd be hidding in a foxwhole somewhere whinning about not wanting to be ther,e but then again, i know a lot of men that would be the same. its time we look at abilities for leader of a country, not other things. If i was better at speechs this might have sounded better or moving but well i'm not very good at them. ~Tai |

Don't apologize for what you said, Tai!
It was very clear and well understood. We can see that you are honest and outspoken, and in this case, even I agree with you 100%! David Duke, former Senator from Louisiana and also former Grand Knight of the Ku Klux Klan, Used the campaign motto, "Equal opportunity for All, and special privileges for None." If he had actually lived and practiced that motto, he may have been president. But he never has been able to overcome his former association with the Klan. There is much to be said in favor of equal opportunity for all. It is the special privileges for none, namely "Affirmative Action" and such, that is still something that is keeping our country from being the land of EQUAL opportunity. |

The one thing that has always bothered me about politics is the fact that we do not make the judgment on ability. Although Charisma is a part of it it should not be primary to the decision we make for our leaders.
On a side note I have this vision of Bill in a stained dress!

How true. Forget ability and go for looks and presentation. I don't know how we got this point, much less why we got here. But we are in need of a real leader, regardless of race, color, gender, etc. and stand up and say enough is enough. There's been some speculation of a Clinton v. Rice run-off. 1st I don't see either one getting their parties nomination and 2nd if it did, King Ralph would have more than 20% of the electoral votes (a system we need to drop).

I agree whole heartedly with Tai. People are people regardless of race, gender, and (I believe) even sexual orientation. I think we ought to pick the best person for the job, no matter who or what they are. I will not vote for Hillary Clinton though. I can't stand her. I think she is very cold, and fake (not that most politicians aren't) and I don't really agree with her on much of anything. I'd love to see a stong, and assertive women in the presidency, but honestly I think people are to stuck on the way things have been to in the past to be open minded about it. Women still have to struggle, claw, and fight their way to the top in the work place. We don't make as much money as men for the same job with the same experience, and I believe until things like that change we won't see a female in office.

short_lil_chick,
I think you are right on. I think most people are ready to vote for a qualified female for president. People should not vote for Hillary Clinton simply because she is a female. People should vote for the best qualified person. I have told first time voters to research each candidates voting record and vote for the one that matches your preferences. Do not vote for the (R) or (D) near their name or the gender or color of their skin.
