You are saying they needed to get their stories straight and needed time to sober up. So, you are saying they are covering something up and were drunk. Are you going to play the Clinton card and ask us to define "sex"? You were insinuating that Cheney needed time to get his story straight and sober up. Are you denying this now?

...if need be.

It's nice for you to ommit that part of the sentence. "plenty of time to get their stories straight and enough time to sober up, if need be."

Wow, that's a big difference. Did you ommit it on accident or are you selectively quoting me on purpose?

The reporting of the story is a non-issue. The President's and Vice-President's office is under no obligation to report the event to reporters within 24 or even 48 hours. It's a serious enough accident that I think they have a moral responsibility to report it within a few days.

My issue was with the Sherrif Department investigation. The Sheriff's Department didn't interview anyone until 18 hours after the accident. That's a long time for the police not to be involved. A sheriff deputy did go to the ranch to interview people, but he was turned away by the Secret Service. Why did the Sheriff Department wait so long to interview Cheney and others? Was it because alcohol was involved? Was it to get their stories straight? Was it because they were at the hospital waiting anxiously for their friend? Was it that the Sheriff suggested they be interviewed in the morning?

I think we should invade Iran, if need be.

Do you think I am saying:

A. We may need to invade Iran
B. Go get a steak dinner

Which one?

Mike

Question discredit time

I've got an idea! If discrediting an old Republican by accusing him of deliberately getting drunk and peppering his old friend with #8 birdshot, why don't we drag out some old Abu-Graib photos, send them to Australia, and see if we can add to the fire of Muslim fury throughout the world?
By the way, that cartoon was first printed in SEPTEMBER! Who triggered the Muslims to protest in February?? Who gave them Danish flags to burn?

Sorry, I forgot to stay on the subject. Mea copa.

Mike - you are all over the place with your arguments. Your tangents are too much for me.

All in all, the Cheney shooting is hilarious (if Whittington comes out of this ok) but lame. Let's move on! This thread is becoming a bit ridiculous.

Aly, stop using big words like tangents, you are confusing me.

I agree, this story is lame and should have been just a page 8 story for a single day.

Mike

Here are some more hateful remarks from a coward with a pen. Bush won the elction! Get over it!

From Alec Baldwin:

Quote:
So, I suppose the question is...what kind of civil trial will we see, or not see, between Cheney and Whittington? Whittington is certainly no stranger to a court room and to civil litigation. Will Cheney pay him off, preemptively? Will they go to court? I would imagine if a guy with a few beers in him shoots you in the face on a hunting trip, how could you turn down that opportunity?

What would Cheney do about the whole secrecy thing then? I mean, this is the guy that sicced Enron on Gray Davis and the state of California to embarrass Davis, trigger the recall and then watched Arnold Schwarzenegger become governor of California. (To this day, perhaps, still the low point in American political life.) Then Cheney covered it up.

Cheney's the guy who told Libby to out Valerie Plame. The rumor I heard is that someone yelled, "Look out! Shooter!" and Cheney thought he said Scooter and fired in that general direction.

Cheney is a terrorist. He terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately. Who ever thought Harry Whittington would be the answer to America's prayers. Finally, someone who might get that lying, thieving Cheney into a courtroom to answer some direct questions.
So much hatred! Wasn't he suppose to leave the country if Bush won the election? Why is he still here?

Mike

Baldwin, Barbara Streisand and I think Sean Penn said they would leave America if Bush got elected. I understood that a group in California was going to pay for their ticket, but it didn't happen. Too bad. Cheney bashing is over for now.

I just keep wishing for "the big one" to hit the San Andreas fault line and sink the worthless state of California into the Pacific Ocean. Just a quick bit of information for you, in Cali they want to construct the worlds longest tunnel to elivate some of the traffic conjestion, but can you guess where the tunnel will go through? Yep you guessed it right over the San Andreas fault line. Bravo California... Bravo.
