You you know this because...? You obviously have no idea about sleeper cells. The word "sleeper" means the appearance of not being around. You have obviously fallen for this since you don't think they exist. Here is a news flash: I will take the word of the FBI and homeland defense that there are 100s if not thousands of cells in the U.S. over a guy posting in an internet message board.

I don't think the Bush administration cares too much about protecting borders because Big Money loves cheap labour.
And Democrats will do better? Who is the real big money? Do a little research and you will see 9 out of the top 10 donors to the 2004 Presidential election were to John Kerry. Some 85 of the top 100!

John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid are rich beyond belief. I don't know a single Democrat in the Senate that is not just as rich as a Republican. News flash: there is no one in the senate that is a commoner. They are all rich!

Just look at Harry Reid's last land deal or Kerry's twelve million dollar plus homes. To believe Republicans want open borders, but Democrats don't is silly. Where else are they going to get all those illegal votes to bus into Arizona on election day?

`(i) a person who has engaged in hostilities or who has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States or its co-belligerents who is not a lawful enemy combatant (including a person who is part of the Taliban, al Qaeda, or associated forces); or

[indent]`(ii) a person who, before, on, or after the date of the enactment of the Military Commissions Act of 2006, has been determined to be an unlawful enemy combatant by a Combatant Status Review Tribunal or another competent tribunal established under the authority of the President or the Secretary of Defense.
You left out one small detail of the actual writing of this bill.

Page 12 Line 17-20 says word for word:

"(7) Unlawful Enemy Combatant- The term "Unlawful Enemy Combatant" means an indivdual determined by or under the authority of the President or the Secretary of Defense-"

So, if they dont like us, we can be classified as an "Unlawful Enemy Combatant". That is vague and that quote does include every American and Non-american. We have let our President get to much power. There is know way to sugar quote that bill even though the wool is being pulled over most Americans eyes. In fact, if you want to read the entire Bill in its boring leagal format, much like my divorce documents, here is the link.

Enjoy...take the time to read it...its very interesting.

Re: Day of Shame for Americans: the Habeas-Stripping Military Commissions Act

The word "sleeper" means the appearance of not being around. You have obviously fallen for this since you don't think they exist. Here is a news flash: I will take the word of the FBI and homeland defense that there are 100s if not thousands of cells in the U.S. over a guy posting in an internet message board.

All I'm saying is that if there really were such "sleeper cells" in the U.S., you would think that they would have "awakened" by now. Yet, in the last five years since 9/11, you cannot cite any evidence of these. Instead, you take the "word" of Big Brother. You are such a true believer, Mike. You'd give up all your rights just because Big Brother tells you that there are monsters under your bed while Cheneying you to it "for your own protection." No doubt about it, you're a real patriotic American, aren't you?

I'm not asking you to take my word for anything. Just use your head and think about it, that's all. Don't take anybody's "word" for anything and start asking questions. That's the problem with this so-called "war on terror." Too many Americans are just taking Bush's word that it's a real "war" and there are real "terrorists" under every bed. Well, if it were a real war, then why doesn't Congress declare it as such? As for those responsible for 9/11, yes, a serious investigation into that matter should've occurred long ago and those who were truly responsible brought to justice instead of using that as a pretext to invade a country that had nothing to do with it all and then calling the illegal invasion and the civil war that followed the "war on terror." That sort of politicizing of 9/11 makes one wonder whether Bush & Co didn't allow 9/11 to happen so that they could make political hay out of it. The point is that you believe too much, Mike. Question the assumptions that Big Brother would have you believe. Just look at who is benefiting from it all rather than blindly believing all the propaganda of the Powers That Be with lies that are used to manage public perception, manufacture consent and create true believers like you.

As for the talk of Big Money dominating both parties, I'll grant you that. The corporate rich control the game. However, the Democrats have at least made some attempt to represent the interests of the people while the Republicans, especially under this oil giant administration, absolutely represent the interests of the rich and the ruling elite and only their interests, so it's a matter of the least of two evils, but eventually, Americans are going to have to take back their country through a complete overhaul of the political electoral system and the corrupt influence peddling that dominates it. What is needed more than anything eles is serious campaign finance reform so that democracy truly does represent the interests of the people rather than the ineterests of the top 2% of the population.

However, just take a look at the current administration and their corrupt mismanagement of fiscal policy. Bush has:
1. Taken revenue and given it away as tax cuts to his wealthy campaign contributors.
2. Taken Medicare drug money and given it to his wealthy campaign contributors in the drug companies.
3. Taken tax money and given it to his wealthy campaign contributors as crop subsidies to support corporate farms.
4. Taken tax money and given it to his wealthy campaign contributors in the Defense contracting business.
5. Now he wants to give away SS dollars as fees to investment brokers and windfall profits to the Enrons of the world.

There is no fiscal policy management only the corrpution of government handouts to the politically connected. Bush has abused the US Treasury as his personal slush fund to pay off his wealthy campaign contributors. Those contributors have received far more return on investment in tax breaks and government contracts than their campaign contributions.

The big fiscal problem is that the current administration collects less than 17% of GDP as revenue and spends over 20% of GDP (including supplementals). Bill Clinton collected over 20% of GDP as revenue and spent less than 18%. This is why Clinton ran surplusses and Bush runs deficits.

The current administration ONLY cares about current political gains. They care not at all about the sustainability of current policy. Even if they could get spending back down to Clintonian levels of about 18%, we would still run a deficit because of the stupid tax cuts for the wealthy. This administration refuses to do the right thing and rescind the tax cuts because of short term politics. They are passing all the political costs to future administrations.

The SS issue was only an issue because Bush refused to drop it. There is no political support for the changes he wants. Bush doesn't even have a SS policy. He has shot off his mouth about a crisis. His purpose is to loot SS and give the money to his wealthy campaign contributors.

The story of the crisis is in General Fund revenue is underreported by the media. The media is owned by big corporate interests that are benefitting from the corrupt Bush fiscal policies and his corporate welfare policies. Media stars from Dan Rather to Rush Limbaugh are all millionaires that personally benefit from Bush looting of the US Treasury to give tax breaks to the wealthy.

Greenspan notices the lack of fiscal discipline but does not have the guts to call it corruption. Greenspan has become a partisan shill and a hack for the notion that it is OK for the wealthy to break their obligations under the social contract. People like Greenspan who got wealthy from our economic system OWE workers (whose minimum wage is stuck at $5 and pennies) healthcare and retirement benefits. Greenspan set up the SS Trust fund with Reagans big SS tax increase as a promise to pay benefits under the social contract. Now he thinks the wealthy should be able to retreat to their gated communities, hiring minimum wage private police security guards to protect them from the less fortunate, illegal immigrants to take care of their kids, wash the dishes and mow their lawns and do away with Social Security so there will be a steady supply of greeters to welcome them at Walmart when they stop in to buy their disposable plastic crap made in sweat shops overseas. This is the new plantation economy, being brought to us by the redneck antebellum southern GOP leadership.

It is time to stop pretending that Bush's fiscal policy from tax cuts to SS is serious policy. It is not. It is corruption. It is sacrificing the long term fiscal position of the US in order to get short term political gain from corporate welfare and other forms of legal fiscal corruption.
