On July 4th Hold Cheney Accountable
I'm sure you have heard the latest news. Bush let Scooter Libby, the one man who was convicted for the lies surrounding the Iraq war, go free and has not ruled out a full pardon. Of course, this was set up long ago. Libby was told from day one that he'd never do any time as long as he kept his mouth shut about the complicity of the White House in the crime of leaking the identity of a covert agent to the press to get back at Joe Wilson for revealing the truth in the New York Times about how the White House used false justifications for the invasion of Iraq.
And the obstruction of justice has continued to this day. The Senate recently subpoenaed documents from the Vice President's office concerning the illegal wiretapping program and thus far Cheney has not complied. It's clear this administration thinks it's above the law. That's un-American, and on July 4th, Independence Day, I think it's high time for Congress to hold them accountable. I just signed a petition urging Congress to force Vice President Cheney to respond to its subpoenas. Congress can start by demanding answers from the Bush administration about the Iraq war and their illegal spying program, and not backing down until they get them. Cheney won't testify? Subpoena him. He won't come? Hold him in contempt of Congress and send over the police. And if that doesn't work, impeach the guy. Congress has to begin impeachment proceedings to hold this administration accountable for its crimes against the Constitution and the American people. You can join this petition by clicking the link below. It's high time that the voice of the American people be heard. Impeachment is the only way to bring accountability to this obstructionist administration that has time and again held itself in contempt of the Constitution and Constitutional law. If this administration isn't held accountable, the same thing will occur again and again and again until the American form of democratic and Constitutional rule is transformed into an autocracy. Click here for a democracy based on accountability. It's the appropriate action to take on the Fourth of July. http://pol.moveon.org/subpoena/?r_by...=comment_paste |

I'm not sure it's worth the effort in the case of Cheney, or what there is to gain. Blatant, intentional lying under oath is much different than just following wrong advice or making dumb decisions. |

Re: On July 4th Hold Cheney Accountable
Nice to see that your hatred knows no bounds. Like a typical left-winger, you can't even leave our holidays alone. It's fourth of July! Go drink a beer and get over your hatred for a single day.
