I just put up a review of the Jan 2007 rape of the 67-years-old Korean woman by a GI.
I usually wait until I can give a more complete picture as these events unfold. This one isn't done yet. His 4 year sentence stands a good chance of getting reduced on appeal. The Korean press this time handled the crime the way crime reporting should be done. ![]() They didn't even quote once from the anti-US/USFK NGOs -- which is amazing. I would say, in fact, that at least getting one view from these people is good journalism, because they do have a loud voice in the society. Showing their voice is not a problem --- if it is done properly ---- (meaning, not used in such a way that reader's clearly get the idea the newspaper is saying the NGO leader is dead-on right and righteous)... |
