KORAIL head fails to win N. Korean approval for 'World Cup train'

2006/02/08 21:36

SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Yonhap) -- North Korea has declined a business offer to let South Korean soccer fans pass through its territory by train en route to Germany, the host nation of this year's World Cup, the head of South Korea's national railway said Wednesday.

KORAIL President Lee Chul met with North Korean officials during his five-day trip to Pyongyang but they refused to cooperate in the "World Cup train" project, citing a lack of preparation and security problems.
