[Yahoo Korea] What is North Korea's Leader After? (NPR)

Published: Sat, 24 Jun 2006 18:37:52 GMT

Why would North Korea launch a long-range missile in the face of international opposition? In part, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il may want to impress his own people with a technical achievement. Daniel Pinkston, director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, discusses developments with Scott Simon.

One needs to understand this 2+ minute interview does not explain the history behind nK shennigans. This is nothing new although the media is playing the trump cards. Whenever they are in need of financial support they have these fund raisers. The surrounding countries provide shower them with financial aid or products. Once they receive these generous gifts they go away until the next time. This has been going on for the past 20 years. Any preemptive strike is unnecessary. This is the extreme Vs extreme. I know there are several churches who have donated goods over the years. This is one regime they need to ignore.

If the Great Leader was really a diety as claimed, why did his son travel to Europe for an education? Why is he allowed to attend music concerts when his fellow countrymen are unable to have a radio? The nK people are force to listen to daily propaganda. It is sad; however, this is not new. If the fence came down tomorrow who would take care of these people?

Cool Nothing New in the North

The short guy in elevator shoes, the "Dear Leader" just doesn't want to be left out. Nothing new from North Korea in the last 55 years. "Give us free aid and we will shut up for a while. Pay attention to us, we are about to be attacked by the Great Satan, the US." We must be prepared. They are just an accident waiting to happen, if they DID fire a rocket it might fall back on them, or hurt someone out in the ocean.
I'm betting on the 4th of July for a fireworks display.
