The state of fishing!
In the thread Anyone Interested I stated that I had NO idea what the fresh/salt water fishing scene in Korea is like, but now thanks to my preternatural Internet skills, I know a little bit about the freshwater scene.
No licence, no limits and no game wardens. Heres a link to an article about fishing for an indigenous species the mandarin fish http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/f...andarin_J.Card and at the bottom of the page is another great link to anglerstown Korean fishing reports www.anglerstown.com/e_home.htm Korea has several species of game fish including Smallmouth bass and bluegills! No game wardens and no regulations make fishing a cheap way to enjoy the outdoors in Korea, but if you go please use catch and release, because no regulations can quickly lead to overfishing in popular areas. |

Good research! I will add the Korean link to the directory. I also just contacted the webmaster to see if he would like to do a link exchange.
Mike

That's why I said "cute" and not sexy.
Bottom line, you better catch a bigger fish than her!

Re: The state of fishing!
Is there anyone still goes fishing?
I've done that before with my sis. family in Oklahoma. I really had a good time. Just let me know if there's anyone who's interested in. FYI, I don't have a fishing pole, though. |

Re: The state of fishing!
Scroll down to Al Pope's post #1, and follow the link to
www.anglerstown.com/ehome.htm for fishing inf. If you are in Seoul, there is a fishing shop in the subway station at Shin Yongsan Station near the Yongsan Post Office. He has fishing poles and info. Korean language is helpful there. If you are down near Yongin, a few blocks south of the former Walmart, now E-Mart- there is a nice fishing mart. Lots of gear from Japan and China. Not cheap by U.S. standards, but complete for freshwater gear. An employee speaks perfect English. I think she is related to the owner. Say "NAHK SHI" for fishing gear. |

Re: The state of fishing!
Thank you for your information. Mr. Joe.
But I don’t want to be a fishing expert. I just wanna get rid of stress and relax when I go fishing with people. Used fishing gear would be ok for me, if it’s cheap. Thanks again. Btw, I’m Korean and my first language is also Korean. :) |

Re: The state of fishing!
Back in 2003, in the mini mall on Osan, a vendor used to sell rods and reels. Don't know if he is still around though.
Here's a tip about the fishing camps in Korea...I have seen lazyboy recliners on the docks. Imagine, a cooler of beer, and a fishing pole in hand catching whatever in a stocked lake. What a way to relax! |

Z___FISHE- Throw in some fishing gear and a pole for Guest- then when you get here you'll have a fishing buddy who speaks the language! Bring a couple of floating lures for bass and some #6 hooks for minnows. A good thing about Korean fishermen- If you don't catch anything, you can go home and eat the minnows! Al Pope loves 'em!
