Make sure you're ready, the dates are Oct 26-29. I'm a little excited because I was chosen as a volunteer to participate in the sail away portion of the evacuation exercise.

could of sworn it was 26-28... and you won't know you're flying or sailing until the exercise... i guess it's the 29th for those of you lucky enough to go to Japan :)

Yeah, I think it ends at 1800 on the 28th for everyone here but it is "officially" over the 29th when we get back in country. They told us exactly what we would be doing. There was supposed to be 2 for fly away and 2 for sail away but the fly away portion was cancelled for the volunteers here at Humphreys. They're still having the fly away from Area I but not Area III.

either way, have a safe trip to Japan. it should be a tiring but great experience.

*G* Okay, just to make sure I'm reading this right... we as dependants (even those of us who are NCS) actually *really* get evacuated during the NEO exercise, and get sent away for a couple of days to Japan? :) I know it's not exactly a vacation..but still...*SWEEEEEEEEEEEET*! :)

I knew we were required to participate in NEO evac drills, I just didn't realize we actually got to -go- somewhere!

Is this exercise just for Humphreys, or is it for Osan as well?

Heh. Only those who volunteer and apply beforehand get to go to Japan. In a _real_ evacuation, most civilians would leave the pen. This exercise is for all non-essential civilians and family members across the peninsula.
