Me moving over cancels his short tour?
I was talking to my husband and he said that if I move over NCS that it will cancel this as being his short tour and he will automatically have to stay for 2 years. Has anyone ever heard of that? I don't understand how my moving where I want on my own time and money can do something like that. Sometimes I hate the Air force. He said that he read it somewhere today but he is trying to find a reg. to back it up. I don't want it to cancel this being his short tour because then he would still be due for one and who knows where they might try to send him next. And-- if we aren't going to be CS, why stay for 2 years? I don't get it at all.

As chuck said, your husband may have misunderstood/misread something, or he could have been given some inaccurate information.. If you are here NCS, you are here only for a one year tour, and it should not have any affect at all upon his follow on, or his status as a short tour. He has the *option* to extend for a 2 year tour if you're here NCS, but it certainly isn't required. I believe Short and her husband opted to go this route, but they had to apply for the extension, it wasn't required simply because she was NCS. If you are here -CS- then you have to stay for 2 years, or volunteer for 3 for extra financial incentive. I'm here NCS, we're only here for one year, and yes, my husband receives his short tour credit for this. Dee Last edited by rndspringer : 02-07-2007 at 09:00 PM. |

but anyway. You get extra money if you stay for two years also, $300 a month We'll still be getting the short tour credit, and from what I understand more of a chance to get the base we want afterwards. Dee is right though we applies to stay longer, but no one made us by any means. |

Re: Me moving over cancels his short tour?
he was given the wrong info... it will be extended to a 2 year tour ONLY if he is approved to bring you over as command sponsored.. other than that it's a 1 year tour

Re: Me moving over cancels his short tour?
I guess I misunderstood, a little. He said someone gave him something to read that said it wouldnt' count as his short tour, but he was going to talk to his first shirt about it first before he believes it, but that if it doesn't count, he could do the 2 year thing and it would definitely count as his short tour, and we'd get the $300.

Re: Me moving over cancels his short tour?
Check into the 300/month closer. He would recieve it if he stays by himself for 2 years. If you get CS then you have to stay 3 years to get the cash. Thats what my wife was told by her commander.

Re: Me moving over cancels his short tour?
Yes, thats true... but if we are over there NCS, he can still do the 2 year thing and receive the $300 a month. If we get CS somehow, then we'll be there for 3 years for the extra money.
