You'll get it back but you'll need to have it to start with. Plus there is always that highly probable situation where housing loses your paperwork and it takes even longer.

Ahh,okay, that might be an Army specific thing... AF spouses fill out their OHA paperwork at the housing office, and hand carry that paperwork to the finance office, across the street, where the finance guys input it right away, so that eliminates the loss of paperwork substantially. AF spouses also may receive an advance for their deposit for their housing *on the same day* as they fill out their paperwork, and have their first month's rent EFT'd into their bank account within 3-5 business days afterwards, with OHA kicking in in the next pay check, so there's no time of waiting at all for it to kick in, on the AF side of things..

I guess that's one of those little differences between services that can cause confusion when it comes to matters like this. :)

So, to clarify, in the case of an AF spouse, unless there are extinuating circumstances, you have no need at all to pay any out of pocket expenses.

Sorry for any confusion :)

Dee :)

I wish they did that for us. When we first moved here we had to bring a copy of our marriage license up there 3 different times.

Uggh! How frustrating! I can understand how that would drive you nuts!

Re: Command Sponsored, lots of questions

I'll look up the regulation, but I DO believe that people get lucky and there OHA kicks in on the next paycheck, mine did. Even though the OHA is for the spouse, I believe that the reg says 90 days, so they (finance) knows your just not visiting.

I could be wrong....it has happened in the past.

Re: Command Sponsored, lots of questions

It took us two pay checks the first time and we recently moved to a new apartment and it's been two pay checks and they still haven't started the automatic payment to the landlord. We're still getting our old OHA rate being put straight on the check. Which, that was how long the lady said it might take. But, I just have this feeling that when we get the new LES it's still going to be the same.
