Re: Cell Phone
Cell phones are everywhere here. You won't have to worry about finding one when you get here.

Re: Cell Phone
I recommend buying a used one. I bought a new one in the B/X and regretted it. Cost way too much! Find a good used cell phone store outside the gate, they are everywhere!

Don't bring your cell phone from the US, unless someone confirms it will work here. The electronics are different, usually! So check it out- you may want to sell it there!

Re: Cell Phone
Quote:
Even if your phone *does* work here- our Sprint phone did when we first arrived- the rates for using it for calls from here are usually cost-prohibitive. We were being charged $2 per minute or more for outgoing or *incoming* calls. Most cell companies are now offering "deployment" programs to the military, which allow for early cancellation of plans, if you present orders overseas, or "parking" of your number. We opted to "park" our number for our year over here so our college age son, and Richard's kids , with his ex-wife, could keep utilizing their phones. We pay about $5.00 a month to reserve our number, and when we get back to the U.S., we can have it reinstated, and still have the same phone number. I'd echo the sentiments about getting a prepaid cell outside the gate, it's very convenient, and cheaper overall, I think. :) You have a lot of options as far as cell phones go, I don't think you'll have a problem at all finding one here that suits your budget or needs.
