Discount airfare
I know this question has been asked and answered several times, but I honestly did not feel like going through the hundred-plus pages in the NCS thread...
If you've had luck getting a good price on plane tickets from Seoul back to the States, where did you purchase those tickets? Thanks! Kara |

Try Korean Air Lines first.
Ask the airline office in the Dragon Hotel. Ask the airline ticket office at your Base or Post. Northwest has specials sometimes. Compare. The USO is usually not as good. |

Re: Discount airfare
I've always found the best deals are through off-base travel agencies. The only thing is - the cheaper the ticket, the more layovers. If you want the cheapest ticket, you'll probably have a layover in Tokyo and one on the west coast before reaching your destination.

Re: Discount airfare
www.cheapoair.com lets you search for fares that do not start in the US, unlike some of the other sites like orbitz. You might get lucky there.
Otherwise, I'd just keep looking for fare sales on Korean Air and Asiana and United. I believe Tuesday morning US time is when the airlines release their new fares for the week. Remember to delete your cookies in your browser, sometimes you'll see the same fare over and over otherwise. If you need to book two tickets, one international and one within the US, look at www.airfarewatchdog.com to see if there are any specials between the cities you are looking at. This site does list international destination fares, but only originating from the US. Maybe it is possible to call the airline with a fare you see online and get a price match in the reverse direction (never tried this, but worth a shot). Good luck, Brad Last edited by Barnesnotnoble : 07-21-2007 at 11:22 AM. Reason: Poor english...bad run on sentance...bad... |

Re: Discount airfare
I actually just booked travel back to the states today. We found the best deal at the travel office on base. Its in the same building as Checkertails.
We checked on prices through SATO travel, Korean Air, United and it was by far cheaper though this place. Through SATO travel it was going to be over 4k just for one way tickets for my entire family. We got one way tickets from Incheon to San Francisco for my children and myself, plus a round trip husband for my husband, and it was only 3100. It was under 700 for each ticket one way, and then 1000 for the round trip. With the other places, it was at least 900 for a one way ticket, and about 1700 for a round trip. There were discounts for children on other airlines, but with the travel office on base, there was not. But it still ended up being a much better deal. We are being reimbursed for our tickets back to the US since they aren't going to have to pay to move me from our last base. *Our new base is Beale, so we are just going straight there* Good luck finding good deals. I found a great deal through bt-store.com when I flew here. We paid 1200 for 3 roundtrip tickets. |
