Question Finally! Orders to Osan!

Looks like my hubby finally got his orders - at least, they are in the system. I'm so excited!

I have a question. I noticed a couple of threads wondering about child care in Korea.

Does anyone know, as a civilian wife of an AD military member, can I baby sit for people for pay?

Cool Re: Finally! Orders to Osan!

Sure. To protect yourself, check the Osan legal office. The Army in Seoul requires sitters to take a class.
Too bad you are not coming to Seoul- Friday's paper said there are 21 Child Care Specialist positions to be filled by the end of this month in Yongsan!

Like Mr. Joe said, on the Army side you have to take a class and I think be registered. I would think the Air Force would be similar. Enjoy yourself on the board. There's tons of info and some very knowledgeable people on here.

Re: Finally! Orders to Osan!

Sounds like it may be doable. I'm just thinking mostly of casual babysitting - I have NO desire to be a full-time daycare! I've raised my son LOL!!!

Re: Finally! Orders to Osan!

If you live on base, you have to be registered and take the class for over 10 hours a week. If you do less, you do not have to take a class, nor do you if you live off base. At least, that is the way it has always worked when I looked into it. I took the class. It only takes 1-2 days. not bad at all.
