Where to live??
Hey all...my hubby's stationed over at Osan and I'm gonna be joining him along with our 3 children in November. I'm looking for an apartment but I'm having a hard time finding out where they're located.
Can anyone tell me the different apts., where they're located, and how far from base? How does advance pay work? Does housing ask if you want it or do we go to finance to request it; and if we do decide to take it, does that mean he won't get paid the next paycheck or is it like an interest free loan? Sorry for rambling and asking soo many questions! I just wanna make sure I know everything before the kids and I head out there. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Where to live??
There are APT's all over Osan. Just depending on where you want to live. There are many threads about Osan APT's.
IF you get an advance, housing should give you the paperwork to give to finance. I would not recommend that, I would have at least 2 months worth of rent saved. $2500 - $3000.

Re: Where to live??
I would have your hubby hook up with a realtor. Where you want to look all depends on if you have a car or two cars. Or how close you want to be to base. There are a ton of apts all over so you will want a realtor. They are free of charge for you.

Re: Where to live??
Laura's absolutely right.. hook up with a realtor, they're your best resource here!
As far as the advance, chuck's right as well, they give paperwork at housing to take to finance. If your advance is over 1000 dollars American, you won't be responsible for paying it back to the military until you've moved out of your deposit, and get your funds returned to you from your landlord. If there are damages, any reduction in what you get returned to you from your original deposit will have to come out of your pocket. Our advance was under 1000 (700 won) , so they deducted it in monthly installments like a no-interest loan. The advantage to that is that when we move out, any funds that we receive back from our deposit, we pocket :) I've got a headache as I type so I might not have been the most efficient in explanation, if you have any further questions or didn't understand that, let me know :) I'll be happy to explain more :) Dee :) |
