Picking up cars in storage

For some reason this has been on my mind a lot lately. When you leave here and go to your next duty station, how do you pick up your car if you have it in storage? The Army is storing our car in L.A. but what happens if he gets stationed somewhere like Ft. Drum NY. Does the military fly the service member to their next duty station and then it's just up to you to figure out how you're going to get your car? Or do they fly you to where your car is stored and let you pick it up?

Re: Picking up cars in storage

Well, what should happen is just like your household goods. If the Army sends you to a different place, they should send you household goods to your new duty station.

Thats what should happen....I'm sure there is more to it than that..but that is what should happen??????????????????????

Re: Picking up cars in storage

When he out processed at his last base to come here, I seem to remember the lady doing the briefing saying they do not transport cars to your next duty station. But that just doesn't seem right.

Re: Picking up cars in storage

I contacted the storage manager directly , filled out form omnline and requested that my vehicle be delivered to the Seattle VPC ,it was at the time in the Chesnee SC VPC ,anyways he complied ,you have to just let them know 30 days in advance ,it made life so much simpler as we flew into Seattle ,my Avalanche was waiting and we drove out to KS ,much cheaper than renting and having truck delivered to Leavenworth.
