Korean Hospitals

Does anyone know anything about the local Korean hospitals around Osan? I heard about Good Morning Hospital in Pyeongtaek. That isn't too far from my house. I'm 32 weeks pregnant so I am trying to weigh my options. I am stressed about the whole stork nest thing because of my son. I would rather deliver close by if its a nice hospital. I was told it would all be paid for and they would provide me a translator.

I also heard about Ajou University Hospital, if anyone has any experience with that hospital.

Any information would be helpful, thanks.

*Edited with correct spelling and hospital names*

Hi, we found this website and I`m not sure how far from your house to these hospitals. Just look down in the bottom there are list of hospitals.

Re: Korean Hospitals

I highly recommend Samsung Medical Center http://english.samsunghospital.com/ My son was born at 121 but due to medical complications was transfered to Samsung. He stayed in the NICU for 2 weeks and the care he received there was phenominial. All of his doctors spoke good english and we had a translator help us talk with the nurses. I know several people who have delivered babies there and only have good things to say.

Re: Korean Hospitals

I have also heard good things about Samsung. How is the drive? Is it closer than 121?

It's a little bit closer then 121 but still not too too close. We go once a month and it usually takes us anywhere between 25 and 45 minutes to get there depending on traffic. I think it's the first exit past the toll booth on the interstate towards 121.

Re: Korean Hospitals

25-45 mins sounds pretty good. I haven't been to the 121 yet but I hear it can take hours. I am going there next week for the hospital and storks nest tour.

I heard that you have to pay up front when you go to a Korean hospital. Labor and delivery sounds expensive. Would I have to pay thousands of dollars up front to go there? How long does it take tricare to reimburse you?

Thanks for the help :)

My friend paid less than $1000 to have his child delivered at a downtown hospital. That included most everything and 4-5 days in the hospital.

Depending on traffic, I have made it to 121 in 40 minutes from Camp Humphreys. On the hand, it has taken close to 4 hrs to do the same trip?

We can usually make it to 121 (or Yongson in general) in just over an hour, but it really just all depends on the traffic. It takes us much longer to get there on the weekends then it does when we go up during the week. The day my son was born my husband made it from Osan to 121 in 32 minutes, but it was at 11:00 PM and there was no one on the road and he was going way too fast. lol

We have Blue Cross/Blue Shield and only have to pay upfront (and then file ourselves with insuruance) at Samsung when we have regular doctor's appointments. The times my son has been admitted to the hospital, insuruance has covered it right away and we haven't had to pay anything but small co-pay ($100 I think). I don't know anything about how Tri-Care works. Sorry! I can't imagine a labor and delivery costing too too much. My son's 2 week NICU stay and a small surgery cost less then his labor and delivery at 121 (since we're not Tri-care). I couldn't believe it when I got that bill!

Re: Korean Hospitals

My hubby had tuesday off so we ended up going to 121 today. I checked out the L&D and Stork Nest. I think that I will end up going there. It seemed nice. It took a little over an hour each way.
