water quality?

What's the water quality like off-base? Is it safe to drink or cook water from the faucet? Is there like a bottled water service there kinda like Culligan?

Re: water quality?

You can't drink it. It is good enough to bathe in. I know some people who only use bottled water to cook with and some use the tap water to cook. I use the tap water and have never had a problem. There are bottled water companies that deliver. We get two bottles a month as part of our lease. Since we only drink water and no soda we have to buy several extra bottles a month on our own and they are 5000 won each. Delivery is really quick. They are usually here in less than 30 minutes after calling. I'm not sure about the AF but the Army requires a water cooler be provided by the landlord in order for the apartment to even pass inspection.

Re: water quality?

I really cannot say if the water is good to drink or not? Everyone says DON'T drink the water............

How many times have you gotten a drink from McDonalds/BK (with ice), I know I have...........cannot tell you how may people go downtown and get a whisky on ice....I know they don't buy ice from post.............

I agree with nearly, I NEVER drank water from the spicket from my APT, only cook and bathe...........had bottled water delivered for drinking.

But on occiasion's as I said before I have drank water from downtown in an around way...............

Re: water quality?

We use Crystal Water (?) on base here at Osan and they are extremly slow. As far as the off base water I have cooked with is a couple times and didn't get sick, but generally I just use the bottled water. Better safe than sorry.

Cool Re: water quality?

Most places water purity is inconsistent. (It is I have drunk or I drank, and not I am drunk!) Anyway- the bioenvironmental folks don't recommend doing any of the above! I have drunk $3 coca-colas at Guiness, with ice, and did not suffer any evil consequences. I have been told that there is nothing you can get that can't be cured by our great military medical doctors. But I don't know of any guarantees!

Re: water quality?

I use bottled water for drinking and cooking. But then again I wash my dishes and brush my teeth with tap water so I get plenty of tap water. I haven't been sick from it yet.

I buy the big aquafina packs for drinking and the 2.5 gallon jugs for cooking at the Comm. My landlord did not give us a dispenser and my husband was unwilling to pay $150 for one. I have seen them for sell at the BX place.

Re: water quality?

My husband and I use brita filters...it works really well and the water taste (I think) better then bottled water, I even use it for my sons bottles. None of use have ever been sick and we've been drinking it for about 2 years.

Cool Re: water quality?

Chuck- I give English exams every day, and twice on Sunday! It is a dirty job, but somebody has to do it!

I may even give dish & decoder install lessons, and addresses where to buy cheaper dishes, as soon as I can buy the decoder for cash from the PX. I refuse to get the Star Card.
