Re: Skype
My DH got over there and ended up getting a landline plan on post that allows him to make unlimited calls to the US. I frequently use my Skype account to call him, just to tell him to call me back. :)

Re: Skype
Skype is pretty cool, but you need a GOOD connection on both ends or the audio quality will suffer. Oh, if you are talking about using Skype OUT (from your computer to a regular phone) than it is a much better thing. I think I spent between 15 and 20 per month when I was talking almost daily back to the states, but most months it was less than 10.
It is a great service, and if you are talking Skype to Skype you can do much more than just talk, you can include webcam, data files, music, whatever.... |

Re: Skype
I have Skype but my boyfriend doesn't - we chat via Yahoo Messenger, with cams and voice chat through the computer - it works just fine.

Re: Skype
We really love Skype. My family (particularly my mom) isn't computer savvy, so we purchased a U.S. phone number local to my parents through Skype, and for $10 a year we can call my parent's home phone & they can call us free since it's not long distance. After purchasing the U.S. phone number, we just pay $3 a month for 10,000 minutes a month ... you really can't beat it. Also, anyone we call with our # doesn't need Skype, & we can call any phone, it doesn't have to be computer to computer. I use it all the time to call my bank & take care of other business back in the States.
On our end, we can use our computers, but most of the time we use my husband's PSP (PlayStation Portable) -- if you have the new, lighter PSP, it comes with Skype already installed. Just hook up a headset and it can be used wherever there is internet since the PSP has wifi capabilities. On our plan, the $3 a month/10,000 min is only for calls to the U.S., but it's still cheap to use for calls in Korea because anywhere other than the U.S. is about 3 cents a minute. We bought cell phones too, but never use them because Skype is so convenient. Connection is usually crystal clear, and no delay during conversations. ![]() Last edited by FairMaiden : 08-05-2008 at 01:40 AM. |
