New Housing Update
Hello everyone,
Just thought I would update those that aren't here. The new Halasan tower opened up today. I know a few people that are moving in this week. Our house is ready but we aren't moving in for a month so we can get settled with our lease. I saw the new our new place. It is very nice. For a 3 bedroom it has a lot of space. If anyone has any questions I will try to answer. |

Re: New Housing Update
There is still one more tower to open this summer. Halasan is the 2nd one. The first one opened a couple years ago. And the third will be ready this summer.
I thought the bedrooms looked like good sizes. Not huge, but not tiny either. I haven't seen it with furniture though. When I move in next month I will have a better idea. I think a bunkbed set would fit. When I move in I can email you some pics. We have a 3 bedroom. There is a ton of space. The laundry room is HUGE with lots of shelves for storage. The living room is giant and will hold a ton of furniture. There is a separate dining room as well. The kitchen is a nice size. I'm excited to have a full size american oven! I think you will be ok for July but no one can really say for sure. Do you know what category you are? If you are A or B you have a better chance than if you are C. Your orders should have your category I think. |

Re: New Housing Update
Favor, please? When you get in, will you post some photos so I can see what the housing actually looks like? I'm still dying to see it; I'm so torn between living on base with "American" amenities and living on the economy.

Re: New Housing Update
I don't suppose this means Osan will have a surplus of housing and they'll allow NCS families to move in??

Re: New Housing Update
Sorry but no. I didn't realize how many CS families are here when you count in all the linguists. I heard that not all the CS families will even get in.

Good to know, but you can't blame a girl for trying. :)

But I can't imagine a situation like this arising anytime soon... |

Re: New Housing Update
Intellectually I knewNCS families wouldn't be allowed on base (and rightly so). We were offered a CS slot and turned it down. Hopefully it will still prove to be an easy year for us but I don't think we'll change back to CS just to live on base. Besides, there's nothing like experiencing a country while there . . . at least that's what I keep telling myself. It's going to be FUN!!

Re: New Housing Update
Um...ok so I don't know if this has been discussed yet...probably has but here goes anyway. Osan will be getting an influx of CS families. They are expecting about 525 new students which is why they had everyone here pre/re register for next school year. From what I understand there will be virtually no room for NCS kids (which now looking you had mentioned that in another post nurse:). In the past couple of months it has been like trying to pull teeth to get my kids in to see a Dr, and it's only going to get worse. I have enjoyed my NCS experience, but it would have been easier, I think, as a CS family. This is why I am leaving this summer as oppossed to waiting for hubby to PCS because (unfortunately) it's whats best for the kiddies. Sorry I'm probably coming across mean, snobbish or like a know it all, which is so not my intention, I'm just trying to give a better idea of the impending change here.
