Vonage
I plan on getting vonage with a local number so that my family and friends can call me with no cost to them. I wanted to ask if high speed internet is common over there or do i have to get dial up? We are going to to Deagu.
Thanks Paula |

Re: Vonage
Your not allowed to have Vonage on base anymore. I got mine June 29th and they are saying you would have had to get it before June 1. Just something to note if you plan to live on base. Also you must get Vonage in the states, you can't get it here. I have high spped cable internet but I don't know about your area.

Re: Vonage
Something to do with the Korean government. I think they just want to buy their expensive Voip plan. They have a way of knowing I guess...
Buy it in the states and then bring it over. |

I got it through their website but they had it at the business center on Yongsan for more than double the price. I think I paid roughly $60 for everything and it was $140.00 on base. Crazy. And you don't need any over seas service unless you plan on calling other countries besides the US. |

Re: Vonage
There are a couple other options too. Skype works pretty well and it is free if you have a webcam and they do too.
If you want a phone, I bought a magicjack for my DH it seems to work just fine. Check out the website and see if it is for you. It does have some drawbacks, but for the price I really dont see how you can go wrong. http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp Jen |
